About this grant
The Council on Foundations, a membership association of 2,100 grantmaking organizations worldwide, focuses on government relations and advocacy, communications, standard-setting, learning opportunities, research, legal expertise, and convenings to assist the philanthropic sector in advancing the common good. Through the Diversity and Inclusiveness Program, the council has completed a five-year study and report on chief executive officer demographics; convened grantmaking organizations to develop a strategy focused on promoting diversity and inclusiveness in hiring practices; and developed a grantee demographic data collection tool and template. This grant will continue to provide partial support to the Council on Foundations to launch a project designed to promote inclusive practices in the search, identification, hiring, and retention processes throughout the philanthropic field; develop diversity and inclusiveness-focused educational programming and tools; conduct debriefings for policymakers as well as monitor state and federal advocacy efforts on diversity, inclusiveness, and equity; and pilot the grantee demographic data collection and analysis project.
