About this grant
The program goal is to promote civic engagement and the mobilization of community resources through volunteerism. During the previous grant period, the grantee was able to refine the British TimeBank model, a volunteer brokering system, and quadruple the number of registered users to over 3,000. Self-financing TimeBanks have successfully been established in two additional regions. The grantee is also initiating a network of TimeBanks in six countries. In 2014-2015, Nizhni Novgorod Voluntary Service staff will work to further increase awareness of, and participation in, TimeBank activities both in established regions and in as many as ten new territories. It will also work to link Russian efforts to develop this model of volunteering more closely with partners in countries within the European Union and the former Soviet space. Established in 1997, Nizhni Novgorod Voluntary Service works with local businesses and charities to promote civic and community activism among young people.
