About this grant
The South African Institute for Advancement, also known as Inyathelo, promotes philanthropy in South Africa and helps develop the capacity of philanthropic institutions and nonprofit organizations to achieve their objectives in a sustainable manner. This grant will support Inyathelo’s effort to contribute to the development of a stronger, well-informed nonprofit and philanthropy sector, as well as build its capacity to assist the sector with issues such as legal compliance, governance, accountability, and taxation. Specific activities will include focused research pertaining to both the nonprofit and philanthropy sectors, the development of accessible knowledge resources, the development of partnerships with relevant organizations, and capacity-development workshops. Inyathelo was established in 2002 to offer services to nonprofits including organizational capacity building, information resources, practical training, and other support services that ensure a professional and sustainable approach for acquiring resources that advance the goals of institutions.
