About this grant

The program goal is to promote the development of community schools around the world. The International Centre of Excellence for Community Schools will raise the profile of community schools among educational authorities, peer organizations and networks, and funders internationally. The grantee will continue to develop and deliver a range of capacity building services to community school support organizations, with a growing focus on partners in Africa. In 2013, the grantee grew its list of regular contacts to over 4,000 schools, agencies, and support organizations worldwide, and completed a detailed survey on community school needs and opportunities in Africa. The grantee organized four Webinars on issues including partnership, leadership, and social inclusion, drawing heavily on the experience of partners in Central and Eastern Europe. Formally registered in 2013, the grantee began as a project of the British educational charity ContinYou, and seeks to draw on and disseminate the growing experiences of community schools practice internationally.
