About this grant
The Center for Rural Affairs was established in 1973 by rural Nebraskans concerned about the loss of economic opportunities in their communities, and has since grown to a nationally recognized policy analysis, advocacy, and grassroots outreach organization. This grant will provide partial support to the grantee for its Rural Microenterprise Development project, which will work to ensure the long-term existence, expansion, proper execution, and awareness of the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Microentrepreneur Assistance Program, which was established by the 2008 Farm Bill and will provide training, technical assistance, and small loans to rural small business owners. During the grant period, the grantee will conduct advocacy and outreach work, engage grassroots leaders as to the potential of microenterprise, submit formal comments on how to improve proposed regulations, and assist rural small businesses to develop strong proposals for funding.
