About this grant
The program goal is to stimulate greater public participation in decisionmaking and community building in five counties in eastern Croatia. During the grant period, the Community Foundation Slagalica will provide grants, organize training, raise public awareness about civic responsibility, and promote local philanthropy. The grantee will attract individual and corporate donors and design grantmaking programs that target youth and marginalized groups in local communities. Since its establishment in 2008, the grantee has awarded more than 200 grants totaling approximately $535,000 across 90 local communities in eastern Croatia. During 2013-2014, the grantee developed and expanded approaches to strengthening local philanthropy, including managing donor-advised funds, increasing membership in its Philanthropists’ Club, educating students about philanthropy and promoting philanthropy in schools, and soliciting donations from the public. The grantee is based in Osijek and works in five counties in eastern Croatia.
