NGO-BG: Legitimacy Through Visibility, Knowledge and Shared Resources

About this grant

The project goal is to strengthen the nonprofit sector in Bulgaria by increasing its transparency, visibility, legitimacy, and internal cooperation. To this end, the Bulgarian Center for Nonprofit Law will upgrade and expand the national Web portal for nonprofit organizations, which is the only database and media tool that collects and disseminates timely and accurate information about all aspects of the activities of nonprofit organizations in Bulgaria. In addition, the grantee will facilitate the development of networks and campaigns of nonprofit organizations aiming at improving the policy environment for their work, increasing their effectiveness, and improving the visibility of their achievements. Also, the grantee will strengthen its relationships with the media and the donor community to increase their engagement with the nonprofit sector. During the past grant period, the grantee increased the technical capabilities of the Web portal, improved the visibility and transparency of active nonprofit organizations, and improved communication between donors and nonprofits in Bulgaria. Established in 2001 and based in Sofia, Bulgaria, the grantee’s mission is to promote and develop civil society in Bulgaria.
