About this grant

The program goal is to promote greater civic engagement and participatory community development practices in Russia. To these ends, this grant will strengthen the institutional capacity of the New Eurasia Foundation to be a leader in these fields. During the grant period, the grantee will seek to combine its work with community schools and universities into a more integrated vision of cross-sectoral partnerships for community development. Its Innovation Fund for Community Development will seek to leverage additional support in responding to emerging opportunities for mainstreaming civic engagement. In 2011-13, the grantee fostered three robust sustainable clusters of community education support institutions in Central Russia, Eastern Siberia, and the North Caucasus. Participating universities systematically analyzed and catalogued community engagement models and prepared these for dissemination to peers. Established in 2003, the New Eurasia Foundation works to foster a broad range of cross-sectoral partnerships to assist in Russia’s social and economic development.
