About this grant
This grant will support the Masterpieces of European Painting exhibit at the Flint Institute of Arts. A part of the permanent collection of the Museo de Arte de Ponce in Puerto Rico, the masterpieces are an extraordinary collection of European paintings spanning six centuries and nine nationalities. The exhibit of 56 large-scale paintings opened on November 28, 2008, and ran through March 8, 2009, and is one of the most prestigious exhibitions in Flint Institute of Art’s history. These European masterpieces are being shown for the first time in North America and as the only Midwest venue, Flint Institute of Arts’ visitors had a unique opportunity to view this rare collection.
