About this grant
Founded in 1996, the Keweenaw Land Trust has protected over 3,000 acres in the Keweenaw Peninsula, which extends into Lake Superior — the largest freshwater lake in the world. The trust works to protect and restore the peninsula’s natural areas, watersheds, and distinctive landscapes by holding conservation easements, establishing public nature preserves, and educating and engaging the public. With Mott support, the trust will continue these conservation efforts while also focusing on capacity-building activities such as developing a strategic plan, refining a communications plan, and moving toward national accreditation.
