About this grant
The Michigan Nonprofit Association serves as a statewide network for the nonprofit sector, a resource center on effective management practices, and an advocate for the nonprofit community. As a program of the Michigan Nonprofit Association, the Michigan Participation Project will work to coordinate and strengthen the nonprofit community’s efforts to achieve a complete count in the 2010 census. The Michigan Participation Project will mobilize Michigan nonprofits to educate and engage communities around the 2010 census to ensure that everyone is counted. Major activities will include convening a statewide Nonprofit Complete Count Committee, mapping and targeting hard-to-count communities, coordinating with government officials, implementing a communications strategy, developing a train-the-trainer network, offering briefings/trainings for organizations, and providing minigrants to nonprofits.
