About this grant

The Genesee County Parks & Recreation Commission is dedicated to providing all residents of Genesee County with affordable, quality recreational and educational facilities. The Genesee County parks are widely utilized as accessible and inexpensive recreational and outdoor opportunities for residents, and attendance in most facilities has either held constant or increased despite the recent critical economic conditions. This grant increase will support continued operation and maintenance of county park facilities, including designated City of Flint parks; ongoing community engagement; and extension and expansion of the cooperative work between the City of Flint and Genesee County Parks & Recreation Commission. The educational activities and opportunities to increase physical activity provided through parks programs and facilities in Flint are important strategies to mitigate the potential effects of lead exposure.
