About this grant
The Flint District Library serves as a resource for research, education, enrichment, and entertainment to residents of the city of Flint and Genesee County. The library has been an asset to the Flint area community for over 50 years and currently has over 62,000 cardholders. The library provides free access to a collection of 432,000 books, audio, video, and subscriptions as well as high-speed wired and wireless Internet access, expert assistance, and computer literacy training. During the grant period, the Flint District Library will enhance and expand its services to both adults and children by replacing some technological systems including the automated catalog and check-out, telephone and voicemail, and pay-for-print and library card systems. In addition, the library will create a children’s computer-assisted literacy station in each of its four locations.
