About this grant

The project goal is to bring about sustainable change in local communities across Europe through innovative approaches to youth empowerment and community development. International Academy for Innovative Pedagogy, Psychology and Economy gGmbH operates a resource center that supports local communities to implement youth empowerment approaches; facilitates networking and learning opportunities for young people, practitioners, and policymakers; and documents and assesses good practices in the field. From 2001-2011, the Youth Empowerment Partnership Programme was a collaborative initiative of several European and domestic foundations, the grantee, and the Network of European Foundations. During 2012-2013, the grantee organized international networking opportunities for young people and practitioners in community-based youth work, conducted a detailed needs survey of local sites, monitored and provided direct technical assistance to current program sites, provided training on youth entrepreneurship, and attended key conferences and networking events to promote the program. Building on successes during these two years, a continued focus will be supporting local sites to stimulate youth entrepreneurship and advocacy initiatives. The resource center has a staff of three people, and strategic guidance is provided by a steering committee made up of stakeholders in the project, including young people. The grantee is based in Berlin, Germany.
