About this grant
The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan started in 1981 as a small grassroots community organization to distribute surplus food to those in need throughout Genesee County, as well as 21 other counties in eastern Michigan. The food bank solicits, stores, and distributes approximately 18 million pounds of food annually, either directly or through a network of more than 400 partner agencies which include soup kitchens, church pantries, homeless shelters, and other charities. This grant will enable the grantee to upgrade its inventory control system with a bar scanning module and provide additional high protein food items for Genesee County food pantries.
