About this grant
The city of Flint continues to face a significant public safety challenge. Crime and violence across the city remain high, while the city’s ongoing budget crisis has caused a simultaneous reduction in the police force and public safety resources. With technical assistance from Michigan State University’s Department of Criminology, the city of Flint’s emergency manager has outlined a public safety plan that aims to address public safety issues in Flint. This renewal grant will support the third year of training, technical assistance, and evaluation to assist the city of Flint in implementing important changes in its police department and other public safety functions.
