About this grant
The NCCS Community Platform is a project of the National Center for Charitable Statistics, which is housed within the Urban Institute’s Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy. The platform is an online database, toolkit, and resource hub that allows communities and their nonprofits to work together in new and more effective ways. The platform describes, classifies, and maps community programs, resources, and nonprofits; incorporates census and other demographic and economic neighborhood-based data; and provides tools for authorized users and nonprofit organizations to update and enrich information in the database, share resources, and organize and manage community projects. Over the next two years, the platform will be launched in 30 to 40 communities across the United States. The Urban Institute is an independent think tank that gathers data, conducts research, evaluates programs, offers technical assistance overseas, and educates Americans on social and economic issues to foster sound public policy and effective government.
