About this grant

This grant provides support to Dartmouth College for emergency relief in Haiti. On January 12, 2010, a massive earthquake struck the Caribbean country of Haiti, causing catastrophic damage in the capital city of Port-au-Prince and the surrounding areas. Immediately after the earthquake, Dartmouth College began deploying medical teams to Haiti to assist the relief group, Partners in Health, an organization co-founded in 1987 by Dr. Jim Yong Kim, the president of Dartmouth, and Dr. Paul Farmer. Dartmouth plans to send at least six teams of doctors and nurses, together with the necessary medical supplies. The Dartmouth teams are assigned as needed by Partners in Health and work in its clinics and affiliated hospitals throughout Haiti.
