About this grant
Piloted in 2003, the Genesee County Department of Human Services family resource centers are housed in an elementary or middle school and staffed by experienced social workers who provide case management services for students receiving food, cash, and medical assistance. Currently, there are six family resource centers in Flint, which are located at three elementary schools, two middle schools, and one charter K-12 school. This grant will support the first phase of parent empowerment programming at the family resource centers. The program will be available to all family resource center participants but will focus on families being served at Durant Tuuri Mott Elementary School and Holmes Middle School.
