About this grant
This grant will support the expansion of two Genesee County Department of Human Services family resource centers. By creating a resource center in McKinley Middle School and expanding services in Holmes Middle School, the organization will provide caseworker services to the 80 percent of middle school children attending Flint Community Schools. The State of Michigan Department of Human Services has developed 69 family resource centers across the state. Piloted in 2003, each family resource center is housed in an elementary or middle school and staffed by experienced social workers who provide the case management services for students receiving food, cash, and medical assistance.
