About this grant
This grant will enable the University of Michigan-Flint, via the Office of Educational Opportunity Initiatives, to continue the Committed to Excellence and Opportunity Program for students from the Flint, Beecher, and Westwood Heights school districts. The goal is to refine and maintain a pipeline-to-college preparatory program that will equip disadvantaged young people from low-income families and minorities with the knowledge and skills necessary to enter and succeed in college and career. In response to the water crisis and children exposed to lead, program participants will complete a civic engagement activity designed to help Flint elementary students increase their literacy and other academic skills.
