About this grant
This grant to the Flint Cultural Center Corporation will allow engineering work to be completed on the proposed Kearsley Streetscape enhancements. Kearsley Street runs through the middle of the Flint Cultural Center campus and connects the campus to the downtown. A conditional commitment by the Michigan Department of Transportation will fund about one half of the project’s construction cost. The Kearsley Streetscape project is intended to slow the flow of traffic through the campus, improve the appearance of the street, and make it more pedestrian friendly, for both walking and bicycling. The project will add crosswalks; create bicycle lanes; install new ornamental, energy-efficient lighting; repair sidewalks; and add trees and other landscaping.
