About this grant
Ontario has nearly 3,000 miles of Great Lakes shoreline — more than any single state in the United States. Based in Toronto, Environmental Defence is a national environmental organization with a demonstrated commitment to protecting the Great Lakes. With previous Mott support, the grantee assisted with implementation of the U.S.-Canada Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement, conducted research and analyses to strengthen Ontario’s water policies, and took measures to build its organizational capacity. With renewed Mott support, the grantee will continue these efforts, with a specific focus on reducing harmful algal blooms, decreasing toxic pollution, and building public support for protecting the Great Lakes.
