About this grant
The program goal is to strengthen citizen participation and give voice to civil society at the European Union level. To this end, the National Council for Voluntary Organisations will facilitate the development of the European Network of National Associations. The network was established in 2009 as an informal network of national-level, multisector associations of nonprofit organizations from 17 European countries, including seven countries from Central and Eastern Europe. The network’s mission is to enable national associations to work together and represent effectively civil society in high-level dialogue and interaction with the European Union institutions. Since its establishment, the network has organized three general meetings of its members to discuss programmatic and organizational issues, attracted new members, and successfully raised funds for its activities. The grantee was established in 1919 in England to support the development of a dynamic voluntary and community sector and represent civil society vis-à-vis the government. The grantee has over 8,000 members and is very successful in civil society capacity building and policy development on the national and European levels.
