About this grant

Since 1977, Catholic Outreach has been serving the homeless and low- to no-income population of Genesee County. The grantee offers several services at no charge to its clients, including: eviction and utility payment assistance; food and personal items pantry, which distributes nonperishable grocery and hygiene items; and St. Christopher’s Children’s Transportation Program, which transports seriously ill children for specialized medical treatment in Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Lansing. The recent economic downturn has resulted in a decrease in donations and, inversely, an increase in demand for services. This grant will enable the continued operation of St. Christopher’s Transportation Program, which transports over 120 children on approximately 400 runs annually, while new forms of funding are explored.
