About this grant

The push for new sources of oil and gas has the potential to impact water quality and water availability in the Great Lakes region. Additionally, the effects of climate change are already being seen in the Great Lakes. The Pacific Institute, through its Circle of Blue Great Lakes Project, will help broaden and deepen public knowledge and discussion about the impact of new energy exploration and climate change on the freshwater resources of the Great Lakes. Working with journalism students from Ball State University, the grantee will develop and distribute five original reports. The Pacific Institute is a leading international think tank, based in Oakland, California, working on freshwater issues and related matters.
