About this grant
The Project for Conflict Resolution and Development works primarily in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa and focuses on training community-based organizations to deal effectively with conflict within their communities. It works mainly with poor communities that receive little or no support from other sources, including the state. Past support enabled the grantee to train and mentor community-based paralegals in advice offices on mediation and dispute resolution. It also fostered good working relationships and cooperation among participating advice offices to enable them to share knowledge and experiences. This grant will assist the grantee to continue to train and mentor community-based paralegals on topics related to conflict resolution. It will also develop and refine training materials on conflict resolution and approach university law clinics to consider using them for the training of paralegals.
