About this grant
The Community Foundation of Greater Flint, created in 1988 with the merger of the Flint Public Trust and the Flint Area Health Foundation, has emerged as a major local philanthropic entity. Its funding focus is around systems-building, capacity-building, improving nonprofit effectiveness, advancing philanthropy, and supporting innovation. The Flint National Service Accelerator Fund, administered by the Community Foundation of Greater Flint in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Flint, helps the Greater Flint area take better advantage of national service volunteers through federal funds provided by the Corporation for National and Community Service. The Flint National Service Accelerator Fund provides matching grants to eligible public charities and governmental units for the recruitment, selection, training, and ongoing support of national service participants working in the Flint area. The matching funds provide a much-needed boost of human capital to tackle significant challenges in the areas of education, public safety, health, and the environment.
