About this grant
The Community Foundation of Greater Flint was created in 1988 with the merger of the Flint Public Trust and the Flint Area Health Foundation. Its funding is focused on increasing literacy rates in Genesee County, improving Flint neighborhoods, increasing access to healthy food, and advancing philanthropy. The Flint National Service Accelerator Fund, administered by the grantee in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Flint, helps the Flint area take advantage of state and national service volunteers through state and federal funds provided by the Corporation for National and Community Service. The fund provides matching grants to eligible public charities and governmental units for the recruitment, selection, training, and ongoing support of national service participants working in the Flint area. The matching funds provide a much-needed boost of human capital to tackle significant challenges in the areas of education, public safety, health, and the environment.
