About this grant
With this grant, the Community Foundation of Greater Flint will establish a National Service Fund to help the Greater Flint area take better advantage of federal funds provided through the Corporation for National and Community Service by providing matching grants to eligible public charities and governmental units to fund the recruitment, selection, training, and ongoing support of national service participants working in the Greater Flint area. The matching funds will result in a much-needed boost of human capital to tackle significant challenges in the areas of education, public safety, health, and the environment. The fund will be supported by the National Service Accelerator Initiative, a project of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Flint, and includes a full-time coordinator who will help local groups identify and successfully integrate AmeriCorps members, VISTA volunteers, and other national service participants into their programming efforts.
