About this grant
The project goal is to foster citizen participation in local communities in Ukraine. The Institute of Socio-Cultural Management will train a new cohort of 40 community leaders, or “social animators,” as part of the School of Civic Participation. In addition, the grantee will conduct a training-of-trainers workshop for 40 graduates of the previous sessions of the school. Participants will receive ongoing technical assistance in pursuing their projects, with newly included material on utilizing social media for community initiatives. Successful examples of community mobilization in Ukraine will be regularly disseminated through publications and a dedicated website. Since 2015, the grantee’s training manual of community development success stories has been downloaded almost 7,000 times. Participants have implemented 251 local initiatives in 45 communities throughout Ukraine. Registered in 2001 and based in Kirovohrad, the grantee promotes social action, accountability, and citizen participation in public life in Ukraine, with a particular focus on community-level initiatives.
