About this grant

The project goal is to strengthen the infrastructure for philanthropy in Turkey. To this end, the Third Sector Foundation of Turkey will provide training, technical assistance, networking opportunities, and knowledge resources to individuals, foundations, and corporations in Turkey who are interested in improving their philanthropic practices. The grantee will also further develop community philanthropy in Turkey by continuing to champion the community foundation model and introducing new mechanisms for local giving. During the grant period, the grantee will increase its organizational and programmatic capacities to provide philanthropy and community foundation support services to the broader field in Turkey. Over the last two years, the grantee published guides to giving for individuals, foundations, and corporations; raised awareness about community foundations; prepared a case study on Turkey’s only community foundation; and conducted a feasibility study on community foundation development in Turkey. Based in Istanbul, the Third Sector Foundation of Turkey was established in 1993 by Turkey’s leading associations and foundations and is a vital support network and resource center for its more than 100-member associations and foundations, as well as the sector in general.
