About this grant
This grant will enable the County of Saginaw to continue implementing the Saginaw Earn & Learn Initiative, targeting disconnected youth (18-24), formerly incarcerated prisoners, and chronically unemployed individuals who want to reenter the workforce. The initiative is designed to spark immediate entry-level work opportunities while simultaneously increasing workers’ skills and helping them manage barriers to success. The county will work with local service providers, training and education partners, and employers to implement this initiative. The Open Society Foundations’ (formerly Open Society Institute) support for the Saginaw Earn & Learn Initiative will be matched by the Mott Foundation and the state of Michigan.
