About this grant
The Great Lakes Environmental Law Center is a not-for-profit, public interest, environmental organization established in 2008 to protect the Great Lakes and the communities that depend on them. With prior Mott support, the grantee partnered with freshwater groups and citizens to maintain and improve Great Lakes water quality protections related to toxins, nonpoint source pollution, invasive species, and other sources of contamination. The grantee also engaged in regional collaborations to ensure that each Great Lakes state meets the requirements set by the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River Basin Water Resources Compact. With renewed support, the grantee will continue this work, paying particular attention to opportunities to collaborate with local groups in southeastern Michigan to increase local engagement in high priority Great Lakes efforts.
