About this grant
The parks system in Michigan preserves, protects, and showcases the vast and outstanding natural resources and outdoor recreation opportunities the state has to offer. Because of their importance, it is critical that the state carefully and strategically plan for the parks’ long-term success and sustainability. A blue-ribbon panel will be created by the state to develop a vision for the future of the state parks and recommend steps the state should take to achieve such a vision. The panel’s scope of work will include consideration of local and county park systems as well. The Michigan United Conservation Clubs, a well-established and respected statewide conservation group, will provide information and technical support to the volunteer panel, enabling it to complete its work within 14 months.
