About this grant
Community colleges have captured the attention of a variety of leaders trying to develop solutions to the nation’s workforce challenges. Many note the importance of community colleges in training a highly skilled workforce that can contribute to a growing and globally competitive economy. However, the community college’s core competency of providing education, while necessary, is insufficient to the task of guiding workers in developing needed skills and translating those skills to meeting current demand in their local labor markets. This grant to Aspen Institute will provide research and analysis into the growing trend of community college and nonprofit partnerships that are addressing many of the challenges faced by low-income adults who need access to education with clear links to employment opportunities.
