About this grant
The 100th anniversary of the founding of the first community foundation in the United States in 1914 provides a unique opportunity for philanthropy to demonstrate critical leadership in recognition of this milestone. The Council on Foundations has been organizing and coordinating efforts to commemorate the community foundation field’s centennial. These include partnerships with colleague organizations and networks on projects such as What’s Next for Community Philanthropy and the book, “Here for Good, a Centennial Communications Toolkit”, the gathering and dissemination of a regular series of exemplary stories and case studies, a video contest, and other activities. This grant increase will allow the grantee to host 20 presenters and participants from around the globe at its upcoming fall conference for community foundations which will be the capstone event of the field’s centennial. The Council on Foundations is a national membership organization of close to 1,700 private foundations, community foundations, and corporate funders.
