About this grant
The program goal is to strengthen individual and institutional philanthropy in the Central and Eastern Europe and Russia region. To this end, the Association for Community Relations will establish INSPIRE – Initiative for Strategic Philanthropy and Intelligent Resources. More specifically, the grantee, in cooperation with other capacity building providers from Western Europe, will recruit and train philanthropy development practitioners to become philanthropy advisors — the first in the region — working directly with individual philanthropists and foundations to improve their giving practices. In the first phase, the initiative will include participants from Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, and Ukraine and later will expand in Central and Southeast Europe. The initiative is building on a past training program for strengthening the skills of community foundation practitioners to work with individual donors supported by Mott through a grant to the Community Foundation Network (United Kingdom) in 2009-2011.
