About this grant
The Southern Africa Trust was established in 2005 to support civil society organizations in southern Africa to participate effectively and with credibility in policy dialogues. The grantee supports efforts to reduce poverty in the region by generating knowledge on poverty issues, making grants to organizations that work to reduce poverty, and creating space for dialogue. The Change4ever Campaign, a project of the Southern Africa Trust, was established to promote local giving for lasting solutions to overcoming poverty and inequality. The campaign makes giving for social change desirable and accessible. Previous support has enabled the grantee to host giving circle events to raise funds for identified causes, profile local philanthropists to raise awareness about local giving, work with public figures and use mainstream media to create awareness about poverty, and support regional networks of indigenous grantmakers to build local philanthropy. This grant will allow the grantee to deepen the work of the Change4ever Campaign by generating knowledge about local giving and raising local resources to alleviate poverty.
