About this grant
The University of Michigan’s School of Natural Resources and Environment seeks to protect the earth’s resources and promote a sustainable society through research, education, and public outreach. With prior Mott support, the grantee developed two leadership programs aimed at preparing undergraduate and graduate students to engage in environmental efforts. In its first two years of operation, the grantee’s graduate program served 39 participants. Students were placed in summer fellowships with philanthropic and nonprofit partners in the Great Lakes region as well as other parts of the country. With renewed Mott support, the grantee will enhance connections between its graduate and undergraduate programs and research the status of internal staffing and external partnerships in environmental organizations. The grantee will also convene Great Lakes organizations to help them develop and implement plans to engage a broader constituency.
