About this grant
Now in its seventh year, this project of the University of Michigan is nationally recognized for outstanding results: it provides intensive training to cohorts of 30 graduate student fellows per summer and helps nonprofit environmental organizations in the Great Lakes and nationally to reach their goals and commitments to enhancing diversity. The grantee operates a similar program for undergraduate students. Nonprofit environmental groups recognize the need to increase diversity in their organizations and broaden participation in environmental programming. With renewed support, the grantee will enhance pathways for workers to participate in the environmental labor force, build a pipeline of diverse environmental workers, build a network that will foster mutual aid and support, and continue to monitor and report on advances in diversity in environmental organizations.
