About this grant
The program goal is to obtain approximately 90,000 diapers for low-income families in the Flint area. The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan is serving as the fiscal sponsor for the Flint Diaper Bank. The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan started in 1981 as a small, grassroots community organization to distribute surplus food to those in need throughout Genesee County, as well as 21 other counties in eastern Michigan. The grantee solicits, stores, and distributes over 21 million pounds of food annually, either directly or through a network of more than 400 partner agencies, which include soup kitchens, church pantries, homeless shelters, and other charities. By utilizing the grantee’s sophisticated distribution system, the Flint Diaper Bank can ensure that these diapers will reach the community’s neediest families.
