About this grant
The program goal is to increase the level and impact of individual philanthropy in the Central and Eastern European region. To this end, The Funding Network, a giving circle based in the U. K., will strengthen the capacity of its current partner organizations in the region and establish partnerships with new organizations interested in starting similar giving circles in their countries. More specifically, the grantee will provide information, technical assistance, and mentoring and facilitate regional and international contacts and exchanges among its partners. The grantee will also document, publish, and disseminate success stories and lessons learned from the development of these giving circles in the Central and Eastern European region. Established in London in 2002 by a group of private philanthropists with the mission to increase the level, scope, and impact of charitable giving, the grantee now works in 15 countries around the world. In the past grant period, the grantee supported its 23 partner organizations in six Central and Eastern European countries to stage 55 events with more than 1,800 donors and raise close to $1 million for 150 projects. In addition, the grantee organized the first conference of its international network with 45 delegates representing 32 partner organizations.
