About this grant
ProBono.Org is a public interest legal clearinghouse established in 2006 to encourage legal professionals to provide free legal services to poor and vulnerable people in South Africa. This project facilitates relationships between community advice offices and attorneys in small towns and rural areas so that poor people can access free legal services close to where they live. The project is currently implemented in the Limpopo and Gauteng provinces. Past support enabled the grantee to work with experienced paralegals in community advice offices to recruit attorneys in small and rural towns to participate in this project, offer training and support to paralegals, and conduct human rights awareness campaigns in collaboration with community advice offices. This grant will provide support to build a case management system to better understand cases affecting communities and to continue to link attorneys in small towns with advice offices to enable them to help paralegals in advice offices solve difficult cases and assist advice office clients.
