About this grant
The South African Institute for Advancement, also known as Inyathelo, works to build a vibrant democracy in South Africa by strengthening civil society organizations and higher education institutions and developing a strong philanthropic movement. It provides nonprofits with training, information, resources, and opportunities for learning. Over the past two years, the grantee has convened a group of local philanthropists on topics of common interest to develop the field of philanthropy, partnered with other Mott grantees to develop a code of governance for nonprofits, and provided practical guidance and tools to organizations on fundraising and other organization strengthening techniques. This grant will support the grantee to train nonprofits on sustainability and governance, provide tailored advisory services, and expand its resource center to make it more accessible to nonprofits.
