About this grant

The Support Centre for Land Change (formerly known as the Southern Cape Land Committee) was established in 1987 and works with rural communities, farmworkers, farm dwellers, and small-scale farmers to create the conditions for reform. Support enabled the grantee to support community advice offices and farm and forestry workers in rural parts of the Eastern Cape and Western Cape provinces of South Africa. The support included assisting communities to organize themselves and understand their rights so they can engage decisionmakers on accessing these rights, conducting research to better understand the living and working conditions of poor people on farms, and producing and disseminating information that enables people to access their rights. This grant will enable the grantee to strengthen community advice offices so that they can better support farmworkers and poor people who live on farms.
