About this grant
Cities play an important role in the management, protection, and restoration of their local water sources. Municipal leaders make daily decisions related to drinking water, wastewater, and waterfront development. The Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative brings a binational coalition of mayors together to support the protection and restoration of the Great Lakes. With prior Mott support, the grantee worked to halt the spread of invasive species, encouraged sustainable water management practices, and increased the organization’s membership base. With renewed Mott support, the grantee will also help reduce toxic algal blooms in the Great Lakes and take steps to strengthen its own organizational capacity.
