About this grant
The Social Justice Initiative was established in 2013 to contribute to building a South Africa characterized by peace, prosperity, and stability. Its vision is the creation and preservation of a just and fair society based on the democratic principles provided for in the country’s Constitution. The grantee seeks to address the financial crisis facing the social justice sector by increasing awareness of social justice causes among wealthy South Africans and encouraging them to fund programs that advance human rights and social justice. Past support assisted the grantee to establish mechanisms through which philanthropists can fund social justice causes, facilitate long-term relationships between philanthropists and the projects they support, and advocate for increased funding to the social justice sector. This grant will support the grantee to continue unlocking support from wealthy South Africans for social justice causes and matching funders with deserving causes.
