About this grant
The Instituto Centro de Vida is a Brazilian civil society organization that serves as the secretariat of the Brazilian Infrastructure Working Group and works with communities impacted by large hydroelectric development in Amazon rivers. Over the past project period, the grantee ran regular working group convenings, published a dossier on social and environmental impacts of the Teles Pires and Sao Manoel hydroelectric plants, and organized an important national conference on infrastructure development finance in the Amazon. Over this project period, the grantee will implement the working group’s action plan, conduct security trainings, and work with networks and local communities impacted by two large hydroelectric plants in the Amazon’s Teles Pires watershed and monitor developments of a proposed complex of hydroelectric plants on the Tapajos River.
