About this grant
This grant will enable YouthBuild USA to strengthen its overall management capacity and expand its programming domestically and internationally. In 2013, YouthBuild USA celebrated its 35th anniversary. Since its inception as a national nonprofit intermediary committed to connecting unemployed low-income 16- to 24-year-olds to education, work, and service opportunities, 120,000 young people in 273 communities have participated in YouthBuild and built more than 22,000 units of affordable housing in 46 states. Each year, more than 8,000 young people participate in local YouthBuild programs. Building off its thirty-plus years of success and service, the grantee will develop a growth plan over the next two years to guide its activities to increase the number of local programs and increase the number of young people served to 50,000 each year. Recommended support will enable YouthBuild USA to sustain and support senior leadership transition activities, enhance and support core international activities, support a training fellowship program for local program directors, and support national network and coalition activities focused on reconnecting youth.
